Why choose Croatia?
Croatia is one of the best sailing parts of the Adriatic. It features various pleasant winds - Maestral (Mistral) , Bura (Bora) , Jugo - ideal for sailing experiences, as well as numerous islands, beaches and channels where one can sail and enjoy almost untouched nature in the heart of the new expanding Europe. Somebody said that cruising around the Kornati, for example, is the closest Europe gets to a Thor Heyerdahl experience. For those who like their sailing to have a social side, there are no fewer than 500 harbours and 50 fully serviced marinas, most with restaurants, hot showers, chandlers, mini-marts and weather charts. You can even partake in RYA run courses to increase your skills.

The season runs from May to October and there are a variety of ways to enjoy a boating holiday around the 1,185 islands …. 67 of which are inhabited.
The Croatian Chamber of Commerce have established a professional organization – the Croatian Association of Nautical Tourism - which have brought t ogether all the significant aspects of nautical tourism;

These groups aim to advance tourism, offering safety and satisfaction to all who use the sea and what it has to offer.
Along the coastline of there are 50 marinas all of which are included in the Croatian Marinas Group.
The tenth annual boat show will be a spectacular season opener on April 5th 2008, running until the 13th of April 2008, it will be held in Split. Left is a picture of the 2007 event, which proved to be very successful.
They offer 13,200 sea berths and 4,500 dry berths. The marinas are continuously working to keep their standards high and to upgrade their facilities and services. Some of the Marina's are self-contained or within a hotel complex but most are open all year. The Adriatic Croatian International Club or the ACI Club as it is generally known has a chain of some 21 marinas from Umag in the north, down to
Dubrovnik in the south.
Facilities at the marinas include the usual reception service, electricity, showers and toilets, as well as technical services. However now becoming more popular by offering Restaurants, shops and laundry.
Many of the marinas have been awarded the Blue Flag by the European Foundation for Environmental Education, which recognises a safe, pleasant environment which is in harmony with its surroundings.

In order to charter a boat a valid recreational craft license and radio certificate must be obtained from the Port Authority.
For experienced sailors flotilla sailing may be an option – a group of yachts with an expertly crewed lead boat set out with a seven or fourteen day programme. Flotilla yachts range from two berths to eight berths and at least one of the party must be an experienced sailor. Yacht charter offers two options either “bareboat” or “skippered”.
Bareboat yacht charter means you sail the yacht yourself – and at least one member of the crew has to have 2 years sailing experience.
Skippered charter gives the option to enjoy sailing on the beautiful
Adriatic sea without any sailing experience at all but with the services of a local captain. 
Motorboating
For those without any nautical experience it is possible to charter a motorboat with simple bunk accommodation and a crew so you can lie back, take in the islands and coves and enjoy the sunshine.

Croatia To Have Dedicated Megayacht Marina
Island Global Yachting, a Florida-based developer of luxury marinas and yachting lifestyle destinations, and Nautical Center Prgin, a Croatian marine industry company, have announced a joint venture to develop Croatia’s first dedicated megayacht marina. The project will be located in the coastal town of Sibenik, adjacent to NCP’s existing Mandalina Marina. Split International Airport. is easily at hand.
Under the agreement, Island Global Yachting will manage both the new megayacht facility and Mandalina Marina, through a newly-established company created via the partnership. They will also acquire an equity interest in the existing Mandalina Marina , importnatly they are also negotiating the option to purchase an equity stake in the upland area adjacent to the new marina to compromise world-class shopping, food and beverage outlets and a hotel. Upon approval, this equity stake will be granted to Island Global Yachting under a development agreement.
