 CLIMATE

The climate of follows two distinct types, dividing the country into coastal and inland weather patterns.

The coast follows the Mediterranean climate, with warm summers and mild winters, whilst inland there is a continental feel to the climate, hot summers but very cold winters.

The coast is backed by the high mountains of the  Dinaric Alps, rising to 1,800m which can give rise to heavy winter rainfall.

In the peak of summer temperatures can reach the high 20’s and the Croatian  coast is at its busiest. In 2007 temperatures reached the 30's but thankfully this is not the norm!

Autumn is a good time to enjoy the inland National Parks where the change of colours on the trees can be spectacular.

Winter inland commonly has a covering of snow giving a magical winter wonderland landscape.

However, the very cold temperatures only last for a relatively short while and by mid-March the sea is often warm enough to enjoy a swim in the south.
